FAQ: FAQ

WHAT DOES A HOME INSPECTION COVER?

No two houses are the same, even if they were built to the same specifications.  A general home inspection covers electrical, plumbing, roofing, structural systems (foundation & structure), and the grounds (fences, sidewalks, etc.).  Again, the inspection covers all visible areas of the home.  No walls will be knocked out the check pipes or wires.

WHY SHOULD I GET A HOME INSPECTION?

This question is simple.  Home inspections provide a third-party insight into the "bones" of a house.  Although an inspection is non-invasive, it does provide assurance to potential buyers and sellers that want to know the positives and potential negatives to each individual home.  CIS inspections will add professional documentation to the transaction from either side, the buyer or the seller.  From the seller side, it will give you an edge over the other sellers since your property won't come with any surprises.  As a buyer, a home inspection will reveal any defects that could leverage the negotiating process.

DO YOU INSPECT FOR WOOD DESTROYING INSECTS?

Yes, Wood destroying organisms can destroy a home quickly.  This is a big reason we perform a WDO inspection as part of the general home inspection.  Many other inspectors charge additional, with us, it is included.  We look for live organisms, dead insects, frass, shelter tubes, boreholes, and other signs of wood damage.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF A HOME INSPECTION?

We want you to know what is wrong with the home, why it is wrong, what could happen if not corrected, and how to correct the issue.  We look forward in assisting you in getting to know your home.

WHAT IS THE REPORT AND HOW QUICKLY WILL I RECEIVE IT?

Most customers will receive their richly detailed report within 24 hours highlighting major functional systems within the home.
